Edward Pierangelino Director of Wine Coastside

Edward Pierangelino
Director of Wine
Coastside

“It’s hard to believe it’s been almost a year since I started at Coastside serving wine and craft beer behind the bar. After a couple months in that role I was asked to help expand the wine selection and given my present title Director of Wine. While I had some basic understanding of wine I knew I would need to expand my knowledge and immediately enrolled in a 2 day Intro Sommelier Course as a start. I’ve continued my education through research and review sites (such as Parker and Vinous) and am currently studying online for the WEST (Wine Service Education Trust) Level 2 exam.

Through my studies, tasting wine on a weekly basis and expanding our distributor network we now have, what I consider to be, one of the best collections of wine on 30a. Our current portfolio includes wines from around the world with an emphasis on California Cabernet. Our line up of California Cabernet now includes heavy weight names such as Hall, Turnbull, Anderson’s Conn Valley and Austin Hope. In addition, we carry small production wines that are unique to the 30a area such as Stormy Weather and Wolf’s Head (made by the Hundred Acre Team), Encosta (made by Phillipe Melka one of Napa’s premier wine consultants) and Adaptation (made by Odette/Cade/Plumpjack).

In addition to our outstanding selection of New World Cabernet we have recently added some exciting wines from the Old Word such as Ornellaia and Sandrone from Italy, Lions de Baittailey and Henri Bourgois Sancerre from France and Muga Reserva and Zarate Albarino from Spain. These are terrific wines that reflect the style of the Old World and terroir from their specific region.

One final note. Wine is only part of what makes Coastside such a special place. Everyone involved from the owners -Andrew and Lauren - to the team I work with have created a truly special place on 30a to enjoy time with friends and family. I look forward to seeing you soon!

Cheers!”
